Default Suggestion For Beginners

What do you suggest is a good class (in regards for Core classes) for new players to play as when they make their first character for the game?

In my own opinion, Mesmer and Monk are more "advanced" to play as than the Ranger, Elementalist, Necromancer or Warrior.

I suggest warriors to newer players. Warriors and Eles.

Can't say. It's different for each person. Some people are fine to start with a Mesmer etc.

i would start with a necromancer as you can conjure up a small army of minions (total of 10) to help you with fighting, you will also get requests later in the games, mm is short for minion master.

I'm a new player myself, only been playing a couple days.

Started with a Dervish and got him up to level 11 before I started having a hard time.

So today I started a new char , an Elementalist.

I chose that becuase I have some nice purple staffs & some crazy purple flame in my other hand.

Played it all morning up to level 7, haven't died yet.

Elementalist does really well so far in PvE.

For the beginner I would say Warrior, Ranger and Elementalist. Each has a role in group play so they are not left out.

Warrior is definitely the most newbie friendly profession. It offers a lot of leeway. I think Rangers, Necros and Mesmers are a good start off point too.

Every profession has a role in a group. It's other people's unwillingness to let them in that's the problem. Also, unless you're running a very specific group, no one really takes Rangers.

Oh god... There are so many more reasons to have a different secondary on a necromancer...

I went with ranger as my first profession, and had no problems picking it up. Generally you go through all the missions and at that point you can probably consider yourself decent at the class.

I don't agree with your idea to pick up an elementalist instead of continuing with your dervish. Although a dervish is somewhat different from a warrior, the same basic principles apply. If it is for the simple reason that your build is not sustaining itself, make a new one.. Your build is probably the most important element as a beginner in PvE. Then you'd want Max armor and a decent max weapon. But for now concentrate on getting your first elite skill and buying new skills to help your other skills.

Of course you can always pick up your Dervish later on, but learning a meele class is a smart idea early on.

Anyways, whatever you decide, good luck!

I'd go with a Ranger or Elementalist as a first class..
